What is Physical Therapy?
Physical Therapy is a health care profession that treats individuals of all ages who have medical problems or other health related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. The physical therapist examines each individual and develops a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function and prevent disability. In addition, Physical Therapists work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.
Will my insurance company cover Physical Therapy?
Most insurance companies pay for physical therapy. However, amounts paid and number of visits allowed are highly variable and depend on the policies of your carrier. Please contact your insurance company or one of our centers for assistance with insurance questions.
How much will I owe for each session?
Many insurance companies require a co-pay that you are responsible for paying at the time of service. We accept cash, check, debit, and major credit cards for a co-pay or service not covered by your insurance plan at one of our centers.
Please check with your insurance company or insurance card to determine your co-pay. You may also have a deductible and a percentage allocation amount required by your insurance company. Again, please refer to your policy to determine the amount you may owe or contact one of our centers so we may assist you.
How is billing for services handled and who do I call for billing questions?
If your question is about billing prior to your first visit, please contact your local center directly.
If you have a question about your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) or a billing question regarding a previous center visit, please call our Patient Accounts Team at 1(866) 902-8680 for assistance.
How long are appointments?
The first treatment usually lasts approximately 1 hour. Subsequent treatments typically range from 1-1.5 hours.
How do I make appointments?
Please call your local center or (404) 367-2200 to schedule an appointment. We strive to schedule an appointment for you within 24 hours.
When should I arrive for my first appointment?
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out necessary paperwork. If you prefer to fill out your paperwork in advance, please download our New Patient Forms and bring them with you to the center five minutes prior to your first appointment.
What should I wear to therapy?
We suggest loose, comfortable clothing that allows us to easily examine any area causing discomfort. For example, if you are coming in for knee pain, please bring or wear shorts. For shoulder pain, a loose fitting t-shirt is ideal. We have lockers at each center for patient use during treatment visits if you prefer to change before or after your session. Private treatment rooms are also available.
What will my duration and frequency of treatment be?
Your physician may determine duration and frequency. If not, you and your therapist will determine the best course of treatment.
Who chooses the Physical Therapy Center I go to?
Typically, your physician will recommend a physical therapy center. However, it is still your choice where you elect to go for treatment.
What do I bring for my first visit?
Please bring your prescription form (if applicable) from your doctor, insurance cards, and an ID card.
What are your appointment times/hours of operation?
Please click here for hours by center location.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, check, debit, and major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express).
What should I expect during my first visit?
You will be greeted by our Front Office Team and welcomed to the center. Upon completing any needed paperwork, you will then meet with your therapist to describe your injury and/or situation and to learn more about your options to build your personal plan of care. We will then begin with your first treatment. We make a strong effort to minimize any wait times, even if you arrive early, and to act on your preferences.
If I cancel my appointment, will I be charged?
We do not charge for cancellations, but ask that you provide us with 24 hours notice prior to cancelling any appointments as a courtesy to your therapist and other patients.
Please also call if you will be late so we can try to accommodate you. Patients arriving more than fifteen minutes late may need to be asked to reschedule their visit.
My prescription referred me to another physical therapy provider. Can I come to you instead?
Yes. You have a right to your choice of which Physical Therapy company you select. However, your insurance may have contracts with certain centers so please call us so we can verify your coverage.
Will I have the same therapist every time?
We will make every effort to schedule you with the same physical therapist each time you visit. Please request the therapist that you would like to see upon scheduling and we will advise you of their availability.
Can I request a female or male therapist?
Yes, based on availability at the particular center.
